The Book in Many Hands

Enoch Transmission Network

Trace composition proposals, Aramaic witnesses, Greek mediation, Geʽez stewardship, community reception, acquisition, critical editions, and modern mutation without pretending they form one proven manuscript chain.

This network connects bounded records and interpretive stages. An arrow means a stated relationship, not a proven direct manuscript pedigree.

TEXTLANGUAGEHISTORYDISPUTED

A network is not a family tree unless direct descent is demonstrated

The same corpus can be represented through composition proposals, fragmentary physical witnesses, translations, copies, quotations, custody events, editions, and reception. Phase 26 keeps those relation types distinct and marks every edge as a dossier-derived working relation.

Eight-stage grammar

Follow evidence through distinct kinds of time

Scroll horizontally. The stages are analytical containers, not an assertion that every record moved through one uniform chain.

Stage 1 of 8
01

Composition Proposal

Literary composition proposals

Scholarly proposals about when a literary unit took shape. These are not physical-manuscript dates.

Composition proposals remain arguments and may be expressed as ranges or competing models.

No physical working record is assigned to this stage under the active filters.

02

Physical Witness

Aramaic physical witnesses

Fragmentary manuscript evidence associated with several Enochic booklets and the Book of Giants.

Fragments preserve only their surviving material; reconstruction must not be rendered as continuous original text.

03

Translation · Physical Witness · Copying · Reception

Greek translation and copying layers

Greek codices, papyri, and quotations represent active transmission and interpretation, not a transparent bridge.

No single surviving Greek witness is treated as the unique direct source of the complete Geʽez anthology.

No physical working record is assigned to this stage under the active filters.

04

Translation · Copying · Reception

Geʽez translation and living stewardship

The substantially complete anthology survives through a long Geʽez manuscript and community tradition.

Later surviving codices are not the date of initial translation, and European access is not the survival event.

No physical working record is assigned to this stage under the active filters.

05

Reception

Community reception and canon geography

Quotation, authority, liturgical use, dispute, exclusion, preservation, and academic study vary by community and period.

Quotation is not canon, and one region’s unavailability is not universal loss.

No physical working record is assigned to this stage under the active filters.

06

Acquisition · Publication

Acquisition, transfer, and new access

Custody transfers and European access changed scholarly availability without creating or reviving the text itself.

Acquisition language remains review-bound and must preserve community stewardship and power-context questions.

No physical working record is assigned to this stage under the active filters.

07

Publication

Critical edition and scholarly reconstruction

Modern editors compare fragmentary witnesses, translations, and quotations to propose recoverable readings and corpus histories.

A critical edition is an editorial model, not an ancient physical artifact or final uncontested text.

No physical working record is assigned to this stage under the active filters.

08

Reception · Publication · Digitization

Modern reception and machine amplification

Esoteric, extraterrestrial, technological, commercial, popular-media, and machine-generated readings belong to reception history.

Modern analogy and repetition do not become ancient manuscript evidence through popularity or fluency.

No physical working record is assigned to this stage under the active filters.

Relationship ledger

Each row names both endpoints, the relation type, its evidence register, the source dossiers that produced the working relation, and its required boundary.

Reading rules

What the arrows mean—and do not mean

Coverage

A record may preserve part of a corpus unit. Coverage is not completeness.

Mediation

A translation layer can stand between languages without a surviving direct parent-child manuscript pair.

Custody and access

Transfer changes possession or regional availability. It is not the composition or survival of the text.

Reconstruction

An edition connects evidence through editorial judgment. It is not a physical ancient witness.

Reception

A later interpretation can mutate older wording. Popularity cannot promote it into manuscript fact.

Refusal

Where direct descent, a physical join, or a historical link is not established, the network leaves it unresolved.
