The Book in Many Hands

Enoch Witness Mirror

Place two bounded Enoch witness, translation, quotation, or critical-edition records side by side without producing an authenticity or trust score.

The Mirror compares bounded properties. It never generates a numerical authenticity, trust, authority, canon, or theological truth score.

Difference is not deficiency

A fragment can be older but less complete. A later translation can preserve wording absent from surviving fragments. A community-use codex and a presentation copy can serve different functions. A critical edition can organize evidence without becoming a physical witness.

Where the Mirror must stop

The interface cannot reconstruct missing wording, decide which witness is “authentic,” infer a lost original from visual similarity, treat a critical edition as an artifact, or turn a later complete copy into proof that every section existed in the same form at Qumran.

Evidence and maintenance status

This page is maintained as a research guide. Review covers source attribution, evidence categories, competing interpretations, provenance, navigation, and print or mobile behavior.

Review scope: dossier-derived working-record labels · date-dimension separation · physical witness versus reconstruction boundary · regional loss versus global preservation boundary · absence-state language · reception and canon-state separation · responsive, keyboard, print, and no-JavaScript behavior · privacy and export behavior
